Back in the community, my father carries two jugs of water, which he will deliver to other residents in need. My father is an entrepreneur who rears goats and works as a driver with a tours and travel company. Like him, many men who drive support the community in delivering drinking water to their neighbours.
I believe as times become harder we will always find solutions to our community’s water problems - even if we do not have the funds. Our community is resilient, and has learnt to come up with creative solutions to source water long before climate change started affecting rainfall.
I don’t know if we will ever see water run through our taps again, like in 2010. The funny thing is that everyone in the community is still getting billed for water, even though the taps have run dry. Does this mean the water will reappear one day?
