To find water Clementine prefers to look further - about one hour away by foot - to the Kamtana dam.
Once a cattle dam, and now commonly called Kamtana dam or Lake Kamatana, the dam was created in 1995 by cow owners searching for water for their cows. The owners dug a hole and found a water source, which expanded over the years and cooperatives farm tilapia in the dam now. The dam has become a vital water source for Bugesera District amidst the drought.
